The holidays are meant to be a time of joy and peace, but if you're like most people, it can sometimes feel overwhelming. With all the added demands on your time (and pocketbook!), stress creeps in and can quickly take over your holiday cheer. But don't worry; we've got some tips to help you stay cool and collected during this most wonderful time of year!
Take a Break from Social Media – There’s nothing wrong with checking in on friends and family during the holidays, but it’s important not to get too wrapped up in what everyone else is doing. If seeing other people’s holiday photos or stories is making you feel overwhelmed, take a break from social media for a few days. You don’t need to check in every hour – taking a break will help you refocus your energy on more important things.
Exercise – Yes, even during the holidays! While it may seem impossible to fit in an extra workout between shopping, baking, attending parties and all the rest of your holiday obligations, exercise actually helps reduce stress levels by releasing endorphins that can help boost your mood and energy levels. Even just 20 minutes of exercise a day can make a huge difference!
Practice Mindfulness – This is easier said than done when there’s so much going on around you during this busy season, but mindfulness practices such as deep breathing or meditation can be great tools for finding inner peace amidst all of the chaos. Taking just 10 minutes each day for yourself can do wonders for your mental health—so try to make time for yourself!
The holidays are supposed to be filled with joy and peace, but sometimes they come with added stressors that can really wear us down. We hope our tips have given you some ideas on how to destress during this hectic season! Remember—take breaks from social media, find time for exercise and practice mindfulness each day so you can enjoy this special time of year without feeling overwhelmed or stressed out! Happy Holidays!
